Tutorials

Ten tutorials introduce you to the all of the features of Creator and show you how to use Creator to create typical advertisements. The features introduced in each tutorial are progressively more advanced.

The tutorials can be downloaded here. Make sure you have Acrobat Reader 3.0 or newer installed on your system.

Exercise 1 covers very basic features, including using guides, creating and editing rectangle, oval and starburst elements, formatting text and grouping elements.

Exercise 2 covers basic text and graphic features, including using gradients, editing elements, formatting text, importing text and graphics, splitting text blocks using Make Matrix and using text block settings.

Exercise 3 covers the basic tools needed for ad layout, including using the specifications palette, formatting text three different ways, using Text Styles, Paragraph Styles and Style Models, creating text paths and aligning rule lines.

Exercise 4 covers the features needed for a coupon ad, including using the custom border tool, making a matrix, converting text to a path, drawing elements from the center, creating a circle gradient, making an element style, making a text arc and importing a style model.

Exercise 5 covers creating an automotive ad using the Make Matrix command and other features, including creating new colors and matrices, using the colors palette, reshaping starbursts, using the copy fit command, converting text to a path, arranging elements and using the specifications palette.

Exercise 6 covers tools used for ad design, including creating multiple gradients, resizing graphics, drawing and reshaping paths, using the copy fit command, formatting elements and text, and using the arrange commands.

Exercise 7 covers the features needed to create a simple billing statement, including using guides, positioning horizontal lines, importing and positioning graphics, making a matrix, creating and customizing a table, creating a starburst, converting an element to a path, reshaping paths and adding layers.

Exercise 8 covers the features needed to create a calendar, including creating multiple pages, using master spreads, formatting text and tabs, placing graphics into containers and making master spread exceptions.

Exercise 9 covers the features needed to create a flyer featuring multiple houses for sale, including adjusting corners on page border and fill, customizing a matrix, placing and positioning graphics, masking a graphic, rotating text, converting text to a path, using a path as a container, using drop caps, embedding graphics in text, adjusting underline weight and using quad tabs.

Exercise 10 covers the features needed to create a newsletter, including making and applying multiple spreads, importing and formatting text, building and applying style models, wrapping text around graphics, drawing custom borders, printing and exporting.
